iCloud Game Files on iPhone: Download Before Importing
A filename visible in Files does not always mean its full contents are stored on iPhone. iCloud Drive can show an item that still needs to download. Finish that download before importing a large game file or leaving your connection behind.
This guide is about preparing source files. It does not mean that EMUspace game saves automatically sync through iCloud. The game-import guide explains the next step inside the app.

Identify where the file lives
In Files, check the location shown by Browse: iCloud Drive and On My iPhone are different locations. Inspect the item’s available actions and download status. Do not infer local availability from a thumbnail alone.
Apple’s current Files guidance includes Keep Downloaded for retaining an iCloud item on the device. If that action is available for your item and iOS version, use it before an offline session. Menu wording and availability may differ, and an already-local file may not need a download action.
Allow the download to finish over a reliable connection. For a large archive, a visible filename may appear long before the entire file is ready. Check free storage before starting several downloads together.
Allow space for the whole workflow
The source archive, extracted image and app’s imported copy may occupy space at the same time. The amount depends on the file and how the importer handles it. A compressed archive’s displayed size is therefore not a reliable total-storage estimate.
Start with one game rather than a large batch. Confirm that the transfer has finished, import it, and open the expected title screen. This gives you a known working example before troubleshooting a whole library.
For PSP, ISO, CSO and archives explain different kinds of files. For PS1, keep the CUE sheet and all referenced BIN tracks together. Downloading only the largest file may leave a disc set incomplete.
Run an offline readiness check
After a successful import, leave the game normally. When convenient, test your intended offline situation with that same imported title. Confirm that it starts and that your expected save is available. Do this before a journey rather than discovering missing files without a connection.
Keep this test separate from a permanent deletion. Do not remove the original from iCloud merely to see whether the app has another copy. An iCloud deletion can affect other synced devices. Use the storage-management choices deliberately, after preserving anything you need.
If launch fails only when disconnected, record which file location was used and whether the import had completed. That evidence helps distinguish a missing local file from an unrelated launch problem.
Game files and game progress are separate
A disc image provides the game’s content. A normal save or emulator state records progress. Keeping the image downloaded does not necessarily back up the progress, and copying a save does not supply the game itself.
Read the save-method comparison before moving a library between devices. Check the app’s actual export and restore options instead of assuming that a matching filename means everything is synchronized.
If an import remains unreliable after the source is definitely local, use the loading checklist. Keep the original intact and change one thing at a time: file completeness, format, available space, then the app workflow.
Questions answered
Does Keep Downloaded import the game into EMUspace?
No. It concerns the file’s availability in Files. You still need the app’s import step.
Can I delete the iCloud original after importing?
Do not do so merely as a troubleshooting experiment. First verify the imported copy and preserve a backup you control; deletion from iCloud can propagate to synced devices.
