GTA Vice City Stories PSP Cheats: Money, Health and More
Vice City Stories on PSP reads cheat combinations while you are playing, not in the pause menu. The tables below use the PSP’s L and R labels and focus on resources, weapon sets, wanted level and weather. Make sure the title says Vice City Stories: codes for the earlier game named simply Vice City are a different list.

Before entering your first code
Choose a quiet point in free roam, leave the game unpaused and use the directional pad for every directional input. Press the buttons one after another. X means Cross; L and R are the handheld shoulder buttons. Wait for the game's confirmation rather than entering several codes back to back and guessing which one succeeded.
A small input difference can select a different effect. The first three codes below share most of their sequence, so read the repeated face button carefully. This is especially useful if your controller's physical labels differ from the PSP buttons shown on screen. Our controller setup article explains how to approach the mapping.
The three resource codes
| Effect | PSP button sequence |
|---|---|
| Restore health | Up, Down, Left, Right, Circle, Circle, L, R |
| Restore armor | Up, Down, Left, Right, Square, Square, L, R |
| Add $250,000 | Up, Down, Left, Right, X, X, L, R |
These are three separate sequences, not interchangeable spellings. Circle selects health, Square selects armor and Cross selects money after the same four-direction opening.
The amount of money is fixed per activation. A refill also does not mean a resource stays full indefinitely. If your aim is to learn a route or experiment with an activity, decide whether you need another refill rather than assuming the first one permanently changed the rules.
Three weapon sets
| Effect | PSP button sequence |
|---|---|
| Weapon set 1 | Left, Right, X, Up, Down, Square, Left, Right |
| Weapon set 2 | Left, Right, Square, Up, Down, Triangle, Left, Right |
| Weapon set 3 | Left, Right, Triangle, Up, Down, Circle, Left, Right |
Each code supplies a predefined loadout. The numbering is a way to identify the sets, not a command to enter all three in succession. For an experiment, select one and inspect the resulting weapon slots. That is clearer than changing sets repeatedly without checking what each one supplied.
If you are deciding which PSP GTA to play, our GTA comparison discusses the games themselves. This page is for the button combinations once you have chosen Vice City Stories.
Police and weather options
| Effect | PSP button sequence |
|---|---|
| Never wanted | Up, Right, Triangle, Triangle, Down, Left, X, X |
| Raise wanted level | Up, Right, Square, Square, Down, Left, Circle, Circle |
| Clear weather | Left, Down, R, L, Right, Up, Left, X |
The GameFAQs PSP listing notes that Never Wanted ends after a rampage. That limitation is useful to know: an effect disappearing later does not necessarily mean your original input failed.
When comparing a driving route or taking a look at the city, change one world setting at a time. If you combine police changes, weapon changes and weather all at once, it becomes harder to tell what caused a result. Treat the codes as individual tools rather than a single setup that must always be enabled together.
A separate save keeps the experiment clear
The dedicated GTAPSP listing advises against saving with cheats active, and other PSP references warn that some effects cannot be deactivated. Preserve a clean normal save before experimenting; do not overwrite it just because a particular code appears to be a temporary change.
This guide intentionally leaves pedestrian-chaos and multiplayer-unlock codes out of its practical shortlist. If you consult a larger list later, read the effect and its limitations rather than assuming every button combination behaves like a simple health refill.
Keep track of which file represents ordinary story progress. Our guide to saves and snapshots explains why a normal game save is a useful reference even when you also keep a temporary state.
Troubleshooting and common questions
Why is nothing happening?
Check the complete game title, leave the pause menu and verify the D-pad and shoulder-button mapping. Enter the whole sequence again from the beginning.
Is there a phone-number entry screen?
Not for these PSP codes. They are controller sequences entered during ordinary gameplay.
Can I use a Liberty City Stories combination?
Do not assume so. Even shared effects such as money and health use different inputs in the two games.
Are these external CWCheat codes?
No. They are built-in inputs. The article does not require an external code file or establish support for one.
What should I try after Vice City Stories?
Our PSP action selection offers other approaches to portable action once you want a different kind of game.
