GTA Liberty City Stories PSP Cheats: Codes and Input Guide

Enter Liberty City Stories cheats during normal gameplay, without pausing. Use the PSP directional buttons, face buttons and L/R shoulder buttons in the order shown below. This page covers a useful selection of built-in PSP codes, with clear distinctions between restoring a resource, changing a world setting and keeping ordinary story progress.

How to enter a PSP code

  1. Load your game and move somewhere you can stop safely.
  2. Keep the game running; do not open the pause menu.
  3. Press the entire sequence in order using the directional pad for Up, Down, Left and Right.
  4. Look for the game's confirmation before trying another code.

X means the Cross button. L and R mean the PSP's two shoulder buttons. Some older combined-console lists print L1 and R1 even on a PSP page; this guide consistently uses the handheld's own L/R names.

Do not hold every button together. Commas indicate successive presses. If a controller uses different physical labels, follow the buttons assigned to the PSP controls rather than matching printed letters by guesswork. Our controller setup guide is useful background for checking that distinction.

Health, armor, money and weapon codes

EffectPSP button sequence
Restore healthL, R, X, L, R, Square, L, R
Restore armorL, R, Circle, L, R, X, L, R
Add $250,000L, R, Triangle, L, R, Circle, L, R
Weapon set 1Up, Square, Square, Down, Left, Square, Square, Right
Weapon set 2Up, Circle, Circle, Down, Left, Circle, Circle, Right
Weapon set 3Up, X, X, Down, Left, X, X, Right

The three weapon rows select different predefined sets. They are not three steps of one longer code. Pick one set, enter it once and check the result before switching to another.

The money code adds a fixed amount; it is not a permanently unlimited balance. Likewise, a health refill is a refill at that moment, not a promise that Toni cannot take further damage. These distinctions matter when deciding what to use during a free-roam experiment.

Wanted level and clear weather

Keep world changes separate from a story objective you are trying to complete. For example, using a police-related code while learning an ordinary chase changes the conditions you are practicing under. If you want to compare the effect, use the same starting point and change only one setting at a time.

Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories have different combinations. A matching effect name does not mean the buttons match. Our PSP GTA comparison helps identify which adventure you have open before you reach for a code list.

Keep a clean story save

GTABase and the contemporary Cheat Happens PSP guide warn that certain cheats cannot simply be disabled; the pedestrian riot and attack effects are examples documented by GTABase. That is a specific reason to preserve a normal save from before a cheat session. Those pedestrian codes are not included in this short list.

Use a separate slot for experiments and leave the clean story file intact. Reloading that clean file gives you a known starting point instead of trying to remember every code entered during a session. Do not assume that repeating every code reverses its effect.

An emulator snapshot and a normal game save serve different purposes. The save states guide explains the distinction, especially when you want to keep ordinary progress apart from a temporary experiment.

If a combination does not register

First check the title: it must be Liberty City Stories. Then check that you are playing the original PSP edition, have left the pause menu and are using directional buttons rather than the analog control. Finally, inspect the two face buttons in the resource code: the health, armor, money and wanted-level sequences look deliberately similar.

Try the code again from its first button. Do not append the missing final button to an incomplete earlier attempt. If you changed a controller mapping, verify each mapped input before assuming that the game uses a different code.

Common questions

Do I need a cheat menu or external cheat file?

No. These are built-in button sequences entered during play. They are separate from external cheat-device formats.

Does the health code make Toni invincible?

No. It restores health; treat it as a resource change, not permanent protection.

Can I use these in the mobile edition?

This list is scoped to the original PSP release. A mobile port is a different input environment and is not covered here.

Are these every Liberty City Stories cheat?

No. This is a focused set for common needs, cross-checked against PSP-specific listings. For another kind of portable action, see our PSP action games guide.
